Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has admitted that the ruling party did not consult aspirants for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly before coming up with its zoning resolution.
The APC national chairman said: “We will go back to the drawing board. We owe our party and ourselves that duty. We will take a look at it.
“Hold the fire until the last word is heard from us. We are the custodians of the party, but we are not acting alone”.
Recalls that the APC NWC officially announced Senator Godswill Akpabio, as its nominee for the position of the 10th Senate President.
According to Vanguard, the ruling party in a document issued at the end of the NWC meeting in Abuja on Monday, the committee indicated that the Senate President would come from the South South and specifically, Senator Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom).
The NWC noted with respect the outcome of the meetings held between the President-Elect and the leadership of the NWC.
The ruling party also called for further and better consultation with necessary stakeholders in order to assure the support of the aspirants to the National Assembly leadership positions and members of the Party nationwide.
The party urged its leaders, members, and all Nigerians to continue to work for the peace and progress of the country during and beyond the current period of leadership transition
