Day Two of the Ebira Cultural Funfare held at the GRA, Okene Local Government Area, witnessed an extraordinary display of culture, colour, and tradition, as the venue came alive with vibrant performances and deep-rooted cultural expressions. The audience was treated to spectacular displays by Eku-Oba, Acatapa, ANEKU SAS, Hunters’ groups, and celebrated Ebira musicians, whose performances filled the air with rhythm, energy, and an overwhelming sense of cultural pride, showcasing the rich heritage of the Ebira people.
A major highlight of the day was an interactive cultural dialogue session led by Ebira women, revered custodians of indigenous cuisine. The session offered detailed insights into the preparation methods, cultural relevance, and health benefits of Ebira native soups and traditional delicacies. This initiative served as a vital platform for preserving ancestral culinary knowledge while inspiring younger generations to value, protect, and sustain Ebira food heritage.
In recognition of this laudable initiative, the women offered heartfelt prayers for the Accountant-General of Kogi State, Chief Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko, and her entire team, commending her vision, dedication, and personal commitment to organizing the Ebira Cultural Funfare as a strategic platform for reviving, preserving, and promoting Ebira cultural identity.Addressing participants, Chief Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko expressed deep appreciation to the Ebira people for their massive turnout, cooperation, and enthusiastic participation. She explained that the Ebira Cultural Funfare was conceived to reconnect the people with their roots, values, and traditions, while fostering unity, peace, and cultural continuity across generations. She also offered prayers for sustained peace and development in Ebira land and Kogi State at large.She further reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Executive Governor of Kogi State, to strengthening cultural identity, promoting grassroots development, and empowering communities. According to her, culture remains a powerful tool for social cohesion, moral discipline, and economic growth. She therefore urged parents, elders, and community leaders to deliberately transmit Ebira values and traditions to the younger generation.
In line with the vision of sustaining cultural revival, the Accountant-General announced that the Ebira Cultural Funfare will henceforth be organized every four months to ensure continuous cultural engagement, education, and preservation of Ebira heritage.
She also commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his selfless leadership, people-centred governance, and remarkable achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and social inclusion, describing him as a strong advocate of unity, culture, and inclusive development in Kogi State.
At the climax of the event, Chief Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko openly declared her support for the former Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, endorsing him as the Kogi Central Senatorial candidate for the 2027 elections, by the grace of God.
The colourful and memorable celebration concluded with collective prayers for enduring peace, steady progress, and sustainable prosperity across Ebira land and the entire Kogi State.
