Ebira Cultural Funfare 2025: A Grand Celebration of Heritage, Unity and Identity in Okene

The Ebira Cultural Funfare officially commenced on 25th December, 2025, in a colourful and historic fashion, marking a vibrant celebration of the Ebira people’s rich cultural heritage, ancestral legacy, and enduring unity. The landmark cultural event is being championed by the Accountant-General of Kogi State, Chief Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko, alongside her dedicated team, as part of a conscious and sustained effort to preserve, revive, and promote Ebira culture and identity.

The event, held at Iruvukura, Okene-Eba, in Okene Local Government Area, attracted cultural stakeholders, traditional performers, and community members from across Ebira land. Speaking at the occasion, Ta’aru Ohireba lauded Chief Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko for her exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to cultural renaissance and community development. He described the initiative as timely and impactful, noting that it vividly reflects the values, history, and traditions that define the Ebira people.

In her address, Chief Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko expressed heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his inclusive, people-centred leadership and his consistent support for cultural growth, unity, and grassroots empowerment across Kogi State. She emphasized that the Ododo-led administration recognizes culture as a vital pillar for peace, identity, social cohesion, and sustainable development. She offered prayers for Almighty Allah to grant the Governor wisdom, strength, good health, and continued success in steering the affairs of the state. Aamin.

She also paid glowing tribute to the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, acknowledging his foresight and leadership, which laid a strong foundation for cultural revival, unity, and development within the state. She prayed that Almighty Allah rewards his contributions with long life, sound health, and lasting peace. Aamin.

The cultural celebration featured captivating performances by renowned cultural troupes, including Rambo, Hunters, Onyi Eche and her group from Eganyi, Anignere Dancing Group, Ihima Cultural Group, Ajagu and Co, among others. The troupes collectively celebrated Chief Dr. Habibat Oyiza Tijjani Onumoko as a worthy ambassador and a proud daughter of Ebira land, commending her dedication to cultural preservation, humanitarian service, and community advancement.

Her generosity, passion, and exemplary leadership were widely praised as a source of inspiration within and beyond Kogi State. Special prayers were offered for Almighty Allah to grant her greater wisdom, renewed strength, divine protection, and expanded capacity to continue serving humanity, with the hope that her good deeds will continue to speak for her.
