The debate, which consisted of ten (10) different secondary schools drawn from Okene II District to compete for the best prize award with the winner going home with science textbooks and customised exercise books shared for each school participants respectively. The event was epoch making where students were exposed to learn new ideas and creative thinking tailored for enhancing general knowledge, constructive dialogue and application.
Amongst the ten participated schools in the competion, two schools battled their ways to the final, Ebira Muslim Community College, Okengwe and Leneon Memorial College, but the resilient Leneon Memorial College finally triumphed as a winner of the event.
The chairperson of the event, a revered teacher, Mrs. Ajayi Agnes, commended Ododo Ahmed Usman and OSSC team for providing such unique platform to broaden the knowledge and skills of the students in readiness for future challenges. She maintained that as part of educational initiative assistance project to support parents and community, sustainability would go a long way in shaping the society.
The director general, Engr. Chatta Ubaid, applauded the maturity, brilliance and quest for knowledge exhibited by the students, adding that OSSC was inspired to tow this direction because of Ododo's passion and huge interventions in education, noting that the programme would be sustained if Ododo is overwhelmingly voted into the Lugard House in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
On his path, the convener of the organisation, Comr. Umar Abduljelil Adabara, said the Inter-secondary School Debating Competition is intended to revive the art of debating among high school students and young people in general, thereby raising the standard of education in the state. He charged the participants to sensitise neighbours in their domains to support and vote Ododo as the next governor of Kogi state as the only way the programme could continue.
Other memebers of the team included Come. Peter Audi, Comr. Osana, Hon. Osuwa, Hon. Ohzy and Comr. Ize, Comr. Hafsat, Come. Billy, Hajia Saa and comr. Asugbo Awwal thanked the principals and students for making the occasion a huge success.
