The move comes after months of speculation and legal battles surrounding the status of the emirates.

In a press briefing held at the Government House, Kano, the state government addressed the reasons behind the dissolution and the reinstatement of Sanusi. The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Muhammad Garba, explained that the decision was made in the best interest of the people and the traditional institution in Kano.

According to Garba, the government conducted a thorough review of the situation and considered various factors, including legal and historical perspectives. It was concluded that the creation of the emirates in 2019 was done without proper consultation and adherence to the relevant laws and traditions. The government recognized the importance of preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Kano, which is closely tied to the central emirate

The dissolution of the emirates was seen as a step towards restoring the unity and stability of the traditional institution in Kano.
