My advocate for peaceful rally in Okene and other places

By Gomina MJ (doctor)

Fellow Nigerians, the peaceful atmosphere  that pervaded Okene yesterday when People Democractic Party(PDP) held its first rally in Okene has indicated that the forthcoming general elections will be held peacefully in Kogi Central. The gathering which took colourful stage with a mammoth crowd marching along Lafia street, Okene is source of happiness to the people of Kogi Central.

The peaceful atmosphere following the  rally has showed that the people of Kogi Central is growing politically, seeing politics from the prism that host the virtue of symbiotic essence of what politics embedded.

Before the rally, there was palpable fear that violence might envelope the land if People Democractic Party (PDP) came out to campaign for its candidates in forthcoming elections. The thinking is that Kogi Central is the constituency of the governor Yahaya Bello (the capacity governor)  and Okene is his home town so he would not allow other parties to breath.

But, obviously, what happened yesterday in Okene and other places where rallies had been holding peacefully has proved the prophet of dooms wrong who holds negative mind against the government.

Recall the governor has warned that he would not fold his hand to allow people cause violence in his state. He made metaphorical  statements concerning  how he would  deal with people who dare to cause violence in his state during the election. The governor's statement has been greeted by negative  perspectives from opposition parties which  has caused a tense political atmosphere, despite the fact that he had made his statement clear that he was referring to people who are plotting to cause violence during the elections.

While the government(under Yahaya Bello) has continued to provide  peaceful environment for campaign and other political activities, Yours sincerely, is calling on the supporters of all parties to be law abiding and avoid making incendiary political statements and conduct themselves well in their outing.
