2023 Elections: A call to Ebira people to vote for credible candidates in the forthcoming general elections

Fellow Ebiras, it is another season of election with three months remaining for us to elect to office new people that will preside over our affairs for another round of four years. As usual, the INEC has lifted ban on campaign and the political parties have something to say about their candidates, as it is expected. Already the political parties have rolled out their drums and flied their bird to sing sonorous music for their candidates contesting for various offices. The leading political parties took the front stage with their war chest organising a well-planned campaign programmes. They are not only limiting their campaign to rallies and other public show. They have also taken to the busiest and largest media outlets, social network, to reach out to the electorates.

Your sincerely, is concerned about the coming general elections in Kogi Central. Kogi Central deserves a better representation in all sphere of the 2023 electoral contest. Out of improper orientation and education on aspirant selection process, we may have not in large scale benefitted from dividends of democracy so far, but opportunity of the periodic creates democratic healing and balancing. This coming election should be a revolutionary trial that would put us in frame window at democratic revolution. The people of Kogi Central wish to see credible and competent people occupy the seat of power in the next government. It will be an opportunity lost if we don't maximize the potential of the new electoral development. It gives me jitters to see some social media consultants promoting mediocrity as a champion that can lead the people of Kogi Central. I am calling Ebira people to look into track record of the candidates seeking our mandate during this electioneering. So many ethnic nation has left us behind on our emotional  preferential discharges to primordial interest. We must be mature politically.

Politics is not do-or-die affair and we should avoid creating unnecessary political tension and hostile political terrain through engaging in bitter struggle marked by calumny. The APC led administration should maintain their giant stride in providing enabling environment for free and fair elections.

It is no iota of doubt that current Kogi state government under Yahaya Bello has made giant stride in the area of security, and sectorial development. He recently received award on security management; this is evident enough.  Your sincerely, call on his Excellency to continue to provide security for the people of Kogi state.
