The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its Senatorial Primary Election for the Kogi Central Senatorial District, with a winner officially declared by the party authorities.
However, the Obaro Grassroots Alliance for Senate 2027 wishes to clearly state its position regarding the conduct and outcome of the exercise.
It is on record that Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro extensively toured the five local government areas of Kogi Central in pursuit of his senatorial ambition, while his ward coordinators, supporters, and grassroots structures worked tirelessly to ensure effective mobilization and a peaceful electoral process.
The Alliance notes with deep concern that an aspirant allegedly imposed by certain party authorities was declared winner despite widespread reservations surrounding the transparency, credibility, and fairness of the process.
Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro enjoys overwhelming support across Kogi Central and cannot be rejected by the very people who openly demonstrated confidence in his leadership and representation. Results collated by our agents from the field indicate that Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro secured 44,270 votes, defeating the former Governor, who reportedly secured slightly above 20,092 votes.
We strongly believe that internal democracy, fairness, equity, and justice must prevail within the party, as the collective voice and mandate of party members cannot and should not be suppressed.
The Alliance is currently reviewing the entire process and, in due course, will determine the next line of lawful and democratic action.
The Obaro Grassroots Alliance maintains that Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro overwhelmingly won the primary election and therefore rejects the announced result, particularly as the declared candidate reportedly did not participate in the party’s screening process. Consequently, we shall pursue every legitimate and lawful means available to reclaim our mandate.
We urge all our members, supporters, and well-wishers to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding while consultations continue.
We pray for our leader, Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro, to remain focused, steadfast, and committed to the collective aspiration of the people.
Struggle continues… Victoria Ascerta.
