The meeting brought together key stakeholders and aspirants within the party, providing a platform for strategic discussions on the way forward for the APC in the state. Comrade Àtàba expressed deep appreciation to His Excellency for the initiative, describing it as timely and crucial in strengthening party unity and ensuring electoral success.
He also acknowledged the insightful contributions and remarks of the State Party Chairman, Engr. Ezzu, the Okene Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Danjuma Anoze, and Rt. Hon. Momoh Jimoh Lawal (popularly known as Kennedy), noting that their guidance reflects the depth of experience needed to reposition the party for victory.
Speaking with confidence and clarity, Comrade Àtàba reiterated his readiness to represent the people of Okene I, emphasizing that he possesses the political strength, grassroots connection, and strategic network required to confront and defeat candidates of opposition parties in the general election.
According to him, his aspiration is not built on mere ambition but on proven capacity, credibility, and a strong political base. He described himself as a viable and sellable candidate whose declaration to contest is a testament to his preparedness and commitment to service.
He further urged party leaders and decision-makers to prioritize electability in their choice of candidate, stressing the need to present a credible and widely accepted aspirant one who is not politically weakened, disconnected from the people, or difficult to market to the electorate.
“Our party must avoid presenting candidates who have already lost touch with the grassroots or whose popularity has declined. The stakes are too high, and the opposition is ready. We must put forward a candidate who can win convincingly,” he stated.
In a powerful closing remark, Comrade Àtàba declared:
“My entry into this race is not for mere participation or recognition. I am in this contest to be on the ballot and to win the election.”
His message resonated strongly with attendees, reinforcing his position as a serious contender committed to delivering victory for the APC in Okene I Constituency.
