1. The leadership of Ebira Youth Congress (EYC), has condemned in strong terms, the continued oppressive and repressive attacks on the people of Oguda community in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State by the people of Edo State over a longstanding land disputes.
2. This socio-cultural organisation has made a resolute and painstaking inquiries into the longstanding land disputes; and despite a subsisting court judgement which had clearly affirmed that the land belongs to Okene Local Government, the people of Edo State, particularly the Okpela people have resorted to using government machinery to attack our people without any justification.
3. We learnt reliably that the then Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, late Dr. Ado Ibrahim personally approached a court of competent jurisdiction on this subject matter, and the case was judged in our favour and since then, the Edo people have been flagrantly disobeying the said judgement by mounting signposts, and incessantly attacking the Ebira people living in Oguda community.
4. Whilst we empathetically examined the potential conflict that could possibly erupts from the repressive antics of Edo people, EYC vehemently warns of increased possibility of a violent explosion if Ebira people braze up for a reprisal attack. It is indisputable fact that justice is very critical to any community's growth and stability, without it, the door of strife will remain open for potentially violent conflicts to erupt.
5. The umbrella youth body of Ebira people strictly observed that the more injustice in a community, the greater the potential for violence. So, EYC calls on the peace loving Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to intervene in this matter. This is because his swift and timely intervention can proffer definitive solutions to the inhumane, beastly and satanic oppression meted on the people of Oguda community.
6. We staunchly resists the repressive and oppressive posture of the Edo State Government which has been busy demolishing houses in Oguda community in spite of a subsisting court judgement. And if the situation threatens to spin out of control, this esteemed socio-cultural organisation wouldn't hesitate to mobilizing its youth population for any possible confrontation.
7. EYC concurs that boundary is an accident of history; and whoever attempts to change it is a recipe for violence. We must protect our boundary and the inalienable rights of our people who live in Oguda community from external usurpations. The enranged defiance of Edo people must be confronted by all means necessary. Therefore, we urge the Ododo's led administration in Kogi State to mobilise its resources in restoring peace in Oguda community. We believe in peace, without it, there is nothing, even conflict ends with peace.
