OSS UPDATE : A Maiden Reunion after Three Decades

Okene Secondary school Old Students Association 1985 set, rose from this year’s 1st Annual General Meeting (AGM), with a resolution to embark on what it termed “Revolutionary Project”, as next in focus.

The AGM, preceded by a public lecture, involving students of the school, was held at the Ustaz Hassan Asiri pavilion. Nagazi Adavi LGA. 

The 1985 set, which held its maiden reunion to celebrate the first time of coming together 39 years after leaving the prestigious citadel of learning. It was a plus that despite the reunion being the first time all their paths crossed after graduation, their togetherness was sacrosanct. 

In his welcome address, the Reunion Committee President, Engr. Momoh Salihu Mustapha , who started his remarks with a minute silence in honour of the departed among them, said the auspicious occasion was a long awaited step towards involving alma mater’s of the Ukpogo College  to join in solidarity for the revival of the school.

He said: “This reunion is a celebratory occasion for kind and affectionate words full of appreciation, gratitude and love towards each other and to the almighty God for granting us life and grace to gather together once more in our life time, after 39 years of graduating from OSS  class ’85.

The public lecture themed: “Live after 50 years” was delivered by Elder Dauda Abdullahi, who is also one of executive of 1985.

“It is a thing of joy to note that 39 years after, we are fortunate to be gathered here today  to celebrate and remember our time together as classmates, on behalf of the planning committee, I thank you all for being here. Your presence will enrich the entire reunion experience for all of us

 OSSOSA set of 1985 said members at the 1st maiden general meeting  unanimously resolved that focus would shift to the rebuilding the school  either to renovate a block of classroom or any other project to mark their 40 years by next year

“As you can see the banters, the friendship, and joy in the air, it shows how much we have missed each other. Most of us are in the diaspora, some of us are judges, and we have been able to meet ourselves and chart a new way to move ahead. As it is evident, we have always been very supportive of each other’s dreams and aspirations, which is why a lot of us are highly placed in the society today. And I am so glad that we are going to be giving back to our Alma Mater this moment on”.
