Okene: OSSOSA 1982 Donates Desks/Chairs to Alma Mater

The 1982 set Okene Secondary School Old Students Association (OSSOSA) has presented 20 dual chairs/desks to support the educational/academic pursuits of their former school.

The gesture – according to head of the 1982-year group, Pharm. Ibrahim Aliyu – is to give back to their alma mater.

“Since our alma mater invested much in us, the Year Group felt we could donate some of the desks/chairs and encourage other Year Groups to also donate,” he said.

In light of this, when their attention was drawn to some needs of the school it was incumbent on them to do the needful, hence the donation.

In order to advance the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology, ICT, in  schools, the Okene Secondary School  Old Students Association, OSSOSA  promised to donate 21 sets of Computers and printer to the the prestigious school, OSS. 

HE. AbdulMalik Aso (AMAS), Shettima of Ebiraland charged students of Okene Secondary school OSS to make effective use of the computers as it is for their advantage in increasing their knowledge of ICT and in joining to broaden their skills and capacity in modern communication technology.

CP Peter Umar, another member of the group, speaking to students during the presentation advised them to take their academic work seriously as it will propel their future professions.

“Our advice to you is ‘please listen to your teachers and believe in them and stick to your notes and books and you will go far’,” he said.

Students went agog as old students 82 set donated chairs and desks to the school.

The students, who are set to go on longterm break, were visibly excited as they will no longer be crowded in a seat.

While handing over the materials to the Principal of the school on Saturday, the leader of the 1982 set of the OSSOSA, Okene, Pharm. Ibrahim Aliyu, assured that the old students would continue to support the growth of the school, appealing to those that yet to identify with the school to come forward.

An elated Principal, Umar Adabara Abdul Jelil, while commending the old students for contributing to their Alma Mata, said the old chairs and desks in the school were borrowed and insufficient.

Adabara added that the impact of the 1982 set is a thing of pride and will motivate the students and boost their learning morals in achieving success.

Adabara, on his part expressed appreciation to the OSSOSA 1982 group and all others who have supported the school recently.

While recalling Engr Yisah Yakubu Adajah, Ag. MD/CE PEEMADI, Hon. Abubakar Jimoh Onimisi, Mr. Mustapha Lawal, Natiinal VP. , Engr. Aliyu Omeiza Muhammad  Omadac’s kind gestures towards the school in the past, Adabara said, ”we have seen the impact of Adajah, Abubakar, Omadac’s philanthropy. Their generousity has provided our students with Labrotary Kits, other learning materials and drugs. This donation of chairs and desks will help our students to learn in a conducive

He further elaborated some other needs of the school during the interactive session .
