In what appeared to be a breach of legislative injunction and a direct verbal assault on the personality of Distinguish Senator Natasha Akpoti Oduaghan, senator representing the good and proud people of Kogi central senatorial district, I write to condemn in entirety the demeaning act of the Senate president. The assault is not just for her person but to the generality of Kogi central she's representing at the red chamber.
I'm speaking today not as an opposition but as a member of her constituents. Elections has gone, it's time for governance, and we must all stand firm to commend and criticize the actions and inactions of our leaders regardless of affiliations.
Looking at the scenario that necessitated the undeserving and unpatriotic words of the senate president, our skillful senator hasn't done much wrong rendering her voices after several attempt to call for permission. Besides, she immediately seek pardon aftermath which signifies her deep understanding of modules operandi of the plenary.
But for the hyper-reactve president whose unguided utterances became evident considering his previous activities at the hallow champer decides to go the usual way by throwing gibberish on her person — this is very wrong and unprofessional. A caliber like Akpabio should exhibit a culture that agrees with his position as the number third citizen of the country.
Without been political in my submission because it's needless at this time, I will say Natasha has done extremely well within the little time she has spent in office. Her moves and approaches has further widen our knowledge about the instrumentality of the legislative office and their vast oversight responsibilities. No doubt, she's already toeing the path of effective and impacting legislative representation. A talk for another day!
Despite being an ardent member of the progressive family and an unrepentant Ododo supporter, it doesn't stop me from commending the good work of the opposition and criticize where necessary. Same also goes to my own political party. It is expedient i put this record straight, the display of loyalty is not measured on how blind your are to facts but how committed you are to see your party "doing the talk". This is what will stand us a chance before our people going to the future.
Seeing mixed reactions got me worried. protecting our image at the national coffer remains our collective responsibility regardless of our differences. I do not see reasons why we should be political in issues of this kind if at all we want to genuinely build a society devoid of prejudice.
Everyone's political ideas differs. I won't see reasons to join the wagon of peddling needless heat of the polity because of differences in political affiliations. Let criticism of her person be issue-based. That's what progressive family epitomizes.
Natasha is a proud daughter of the land, and a senator representing us at the national assembly. we must rise to fight any attempt to denigrate her person for gratuitous reasons.
