Yahaya Bello : "I watched the EFCC chairman, and I was almost crying because of the way he went on and on..- Dele Momodu

Veteran journalist and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dele Momodu, has criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its handling of the case against former Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello. Momodu accused the EFCC of "misfiring" and failing to do due diligence during their investigation.

Speaking during an Instagram Live session, Momodu faulted the EFCC's claims that Bello used government funds to pay his children's school fees upfront before the expiration of his tenure. He pointed out that the transactions in question started in 2021 and 2022, long before Bello's tenure ended

According to Daily Post, Momodu expressed disappointment in the EFCC's conduct, particularly its chairman, Ola Olukoyede, who he believed should have learned from the mistakes of his predecessors. He advised the EFCC to focus on meticulous and professional investigation rather than resorting to media trials.

"I watched the EFCC chairman, and I was almost crying because of the way he went on and on... If I don't do this... spitting fire and all... You don't have to do media trial," Momodu said.

When asked if the EFCC was lying about Bello, Momodu replied, "I have no idea, I don't work for EFCC, but from all the things that I have read, a lot of them, they misfired. That is the honest truth. They misfired. They didn't do their due diligence."
