Yahaya - EFCC: Only One Person Has The Power to Call The Military - Daniel Bala Asserrs

Legal expert and current affairs pundit Daniel Bwala expressed his worries over the EFCC's comments on the possibility of using the military to apprehend a civilian

In an interview with Channels Television, Bwala criticized the EFCC's statements as "reckless," emphasizing that only the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces holds the constitutional authority to deploy the military

He pointed out the EFCC's overreach,  stressing that the agency lacks the legal mandate to seek military assistance without direct approval from the commander-in-chief

He cautioned against the risks of the EFCC exceeding its jurisdiction and emphasized the importance of adhering to established legal protocols and respecting Nigeria's security hierarchy

Moreover, he questioned the appropriateness of a private individual, specifically former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, engaging in a public dispute with a powerful government institution like the EFCC. He suggested that such conflicts could lead to mutual embarrassment

He stated, "It's a reckless statement for the EFCC to say that they'll call in the military to arrest a civilian. They don't have the power to call the military. There's only one person who has the power to call the military

"The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. He's the only one who can call the military. The statement itself is reckless. Is it not embarrassing that a private citizen will be having loggerheads with a whole agency?"
