LOKOJA - Immediate past Executive Chairman STETSCOM, Mrs Cecilia Cook Enezoza, has condemned Thursday’s attempted arrest of former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The educationist which described the action as an affront to the Ebira nation, accused the anti-graft agency of allowing itself to be used as a tool for a political witch-hunt.
That the eminent businessman and former Governor of Kogi State, Dr. Yahaya Adoza Bello , is facing legal battle over some of his actions while in office as Chief Executive Officer of “Confluence State” does not come to many as a surprise.
His travails started when he was seen as a stumbling block to President Bola Tinubu's 2023 presidential election.
Linking Bello’s current ordeal to political vendetta, Enezoza pointed out that “Yahaya Bello CON remains one of the most formidable politicians from the North-Central at the moment and that he might have been singled out for humiliation and attacks because of alleged 2027 conspiracies.
“We have noted with dismay, deliberate efforts to neutralize some of Ebira’s biggest shots before the 2027 general elections.
In regard to obstruction of FGYB arrest, its never the wish of any to obstruct the EFCC in the performance of its tasks, but a lot of criticisms trailed the action of the commission as they made attempt to arrest the ex Governor despite the existing court ordered retraining the Commission. I reiterate that the Commission should be professional, ethical, transparent and consistent. It cannot be deemed professional when the agency is not consistent in the application of its rules and the laws to all cases and individuals.
