The most painful thing is that Northerners stood for him and did all they could to bring him to power - Senator Abdul Ningi

According to Leadership News, Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi Central in the Senate, voiced his concerns about the deteriorating state of affairs under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration. Speaking as the chairman of the Northern Senators Forum (NSF), Ningi highlighted President Tinubu's apparent lack of understanding of the country's dynamics, particularly concerning issues affecting the North. In an interview with BBC Hausa Service, Ningi expressed disappointment in the federal government's performance under Tinubu's leadership, noting a worsening situation since Tinubu assumed office in May 2023.

Ningi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasized the hardships faced by people in villages, underscoring their grievances and the lack of avenues to address them. He lamented the absence of agreements between President Tinubu and Northerners regarding crucial projects like the Ajaokuta and Mambilla power projects, as well as the dredging of River Niger. According to Ningi, despite Northerners' support for Tinubu during his ascent to power, there's been a glaring disparity between promises and actions, leaving significant Northern aspirations unfulfilled.

The senator's remarks shed light on growing disillusionment among Northerners with President Tinubu's governance, citing unmet expectations and neglected regional projects. As tensions rise and dissatisfaction mounts, Ningi's critique underscores broader concerns about the effectiveness and inclusivity of the current administration's policies and priorities.

“But the most painful thing is that Northerners stood for him and did all they could to bring him to power, but unfortunately, there was no agreement between them and the president on what should be done to the North and the Northerners. Especially taking into consideration the importance and significant projects that the North has been yearning and aspiring to get for a long time. For example, the Ajaokuta project, the Mambilla power project, the dredging of River Niger and other notable projects,” Ningi said.
