Atiku, PDP Announce To Withdraw His Case Against Tinubu, Reveal Next Line of Action

Following the 2023 Presidential election in Nigeria, there has been dissatisfaction among different individuals regarding the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President-elect and subsequent President of Nigeria by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

Many people in Nigeria have criticized the Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, for allegedly failing to fulfill the promises he made to the citizens of Nigeria prior to the presidential election

As a result, the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, filed a petition against Bola Ahmed Tinubu and INEC at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja, contesting the electoral process that led to Tinubu becoming President.

The Tribunal Judges, led by Justice Tsammani, have assured the public that they will be fair and impartial in handling the Presidential Election Tribunal cases

Surprisingly, Atiku Abubakar and the PDP, who were challenging the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, announced their decision to close their petition against the President on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023. This announcement was made by their lead counsel, Chris Uche, during the court proceedings in Abuja

According to Uche, they are closing their case due to their inability to provide witnesses during the scheduled days in court. He mentioned that some of the documents they planned to tender in the last two days would serve as evidence in place of the remaining 70 witnesses.

During Tuesday's proceeding, their joint petition came to an abrupt end due to the presentation of unsorted documents before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. The court disagreed with their attempt to submit unsorted polling unit results beginning from Abia State (form EC8A), stating that the documents were not properly organized.
