Damisa appreciate the political colossus of our time, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello,

The past few weeks, particularly, have been quite challenging as I have had to make a very serious decision concerning my political future. After deep reflection and wide consultation with the leaders of our party, the APC, in Kogi State, I gave glory to God Almighty and decided not to seek reelection.

When I was elected into the national assembly in 2011, some of my colleagues were unable to end the tenure with us as a result of death while many struggled to return in 2015 without success. But on my own case, I remain in the House of Reps since 2011 till date. However, this is not because I am the only person who can do the job. There are more qualified men and women that can do even better, but for the sheer grace of God, I was elected three times consecutively. During these periods, I felt the pains of many who were not pleased with my continued stay in the office. But what really touched me was the extent to which they went to be polite in expressing their opinions by using the most polite of language. I sincerely don’t take that for granted.

As I am getting set to vacate the office in June 2023, by the grace of God, I specially congratulate my brother and namesake, Hon. Ahmed Tijani Ozigis (TJ Oliver) who was favoured by our party to stand as the candidate for general election to take over from me. With the grace of God and the relentless efforts of our party men and women in our Federal Constituency, you shall sour to victory at the poll. Apparently, the task ahead as a first termer in the House is going to be enormous, but I assure you of my total supports.

On the same vein, I wish to congratulate my own elder brother, Engr. Abubakar Ohere for his victory at the APC Senatorial Primary for Kogi Central. Let me clearly say that his legacy as a servant of the state will long be cherished and adored, which I strongly believe that will replicate when he gets to the Senate in 2023 Insha Allah. 

I also congratulate our party’s flag-bearers for the three State House of Assembly seats for our Federal Constituency. In every democratic contest, there must be a winner. Therefore, I wish to appeal to all other contestants to ensure that the flag of APC continues to fly above all else.

In a very special way, I appreciate the political colossus of our time, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, for his exemplary leadership and for the peaceful conduct of the primaries across the state.

I also commend our party leadership headed by the cerebral State Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, and those who played a part in the electoral processes culminating in the primary elections.

To my teeming supporters, I thank you all earnestly for your supports which I will never take for granted. As a Muslim, my duty is to do my best and to supplicate God for the right direction. By the grace of God, I want you all to be assured that the future is better and brighter. At this juncture, I implore that you should all be prepared for the campaigns ahead and the general elections to ensure that our party wins across board.
