Fellow Nigerians, following the changes of dates for holding the APC national convection by the caretaker committee chairman, Mai Malam Buni, who doubles as the governor of Yobe state, the party has finally reached the stage of constituting its national executive committee. But the circumstances leading to this final stage is not without the dirty game that usually shapes the outcome of result in politics. There were several unconfirmed reports that caught the interest of the public like a magnetic flux. The political atmosphere was pervaded with rumour mill. But what has been buried in the shenanigan was the proverbial cat that comes out of the APC bag at climax, when Mai Buni and some big wigs of the party were accused of plotting to sabotage the national convention from holding. This revelation came from governors who are 19 in number (according to Kaduna state governor, Mall el-Rufai)
The 19 governor had reported to the President when they found out that Buni was hiding a court order to refrain the party from holding its national convention scheduled for the 26, march. The court injunction was reported to have been procured sometimes in November last year by an APC member. The action created another brouhaha in Nigeria political space when the announcement came like a visitor that Buni had been sacked and replaced by his supposed deputy, his Niger state counterpart, Sani Bello. According to governor el-Rufai who spoke on behalf of the Progressive Governors, the directive for his removal as caretaker committee came from the president. The announcement nearly expose the latent division in the party as battle-line was drawn between members of the party.
The coming in of Sani Bello as acting chairman put life into the party as several functions which Buni had refused to carry out, were put in place for the convection. But the plotters did not go to sleep as they unleash the dragon, they fought back by using some close members of Buhari inner cabinet, who calls the shots.
Buhari who has failed in the area of party leadership has now waken from slumber and has flung himself into actions by calling his party members to order. To be continued.
